How to Ask For a Date and Get a Date
Getting the date; where to go; what to do; will I make a good impression; will they like me enough to go out with me again? Just a few of the questions that might go through your mind when you've seen someone you'd like to ask out on a date.
Break it down into easy steps:
Get a date - You've got to ask the person you're interested in out on the date - you've got to make it happen. Start by knowing why you're asking them out - is it just that you like the way they look; do you have common interests; have they got a great personality?
When you know that, you'll have a good idea of what to do - whether you can just approach them with a smile and a 'hello' (always a good idea!), or start talking about what they're interested in, or know when and where to ask them out. And if they ask you why you want to go out with them, you'll have your answer ready - and have a compliment ready, but don't overdo it!
Practice what you're going to say - There's a difference between knowing what you want to say and being able to say it. So practice what you want to say and see how well it comes out - or not! If it sounds like a cheesy chat-up line, it probably is and won't be very well received. And have a number of things ready to say depending on the reaction to your opening line.
Be ready with ideas - When you get the 'yes', be ready with some ideas of where to go or what to do. This will show that you're interested in the date and not just trying to 'pull'.
Don't force things - If the answer is 'no', accept that with a comment something like 'OK, maybe some other time then'. You can't force someone to go out with you, and you shouldn't demand an explanation. It may be that you just picked a bad time and by exiting gracefully, there may be another chance to get the date in the future.
Choose your moment - You've got your circle of friends and they've got theirs, but when you ask for that date, make sure you're alone. You don't want anybody urging you on or snickering if you mess up. This is your chance to be yourself and show that this is about just the two of you.
Don't stand them up - If you can't make the date, get a message to them explaining why and you should get a second chance.
Don't panic about going on the date, dates should be fun. Be yourself and relax and you'll have a great time.
And don't forget, it's easy to get an online date.
